    Hey brothers :D

I really Don't know what the problem is! When I shoot with my camera (W90) Photos it take name Right? Like DSC****, Every photo you take it count a number.. SO Even when I format the memory from the Camera it self or from the Computer the newest photo I take will counting Counting

Ex: Last photo Before format "DSC02000" then Format then the Newest (First) photo after format "DSC02001" !! This is Kinda crap! IT must rest to DSC00001! SO why it don't? :duh:

    Thanks very much

on some cameras there is a reset for the file counter as that is controlled by the camera rather then the memory

If you have trouble with your camera read the manual and don't use the 'new thread' button. This is exactly the sort of thing it explains.

on the cam you have i dont think there is an actual reset for the whole thing unless you used the file number reset which will turn it back to 0001 everytime you create a new folder which can become annoying. if you want to just reset it you could try taking all files off the camera then with the camera in the file number setting to reset then create a new folder and delete the original folder or just use the new folder

to be fair to CK this is not explained that well in the manual and there is no hard fact saying that it cant be done so be nice to the guy.

clear everything from the camera then go into setup menu 2, change file number from series to reset then take a pic and it should be having a file name of dsc 0001. i just tried it on my camera which is fairly similar to your so i guess it should be the same

my camera is a different series and i thought that all would have the same software but there are a few differences and after looking at the w series manual i saw that it didnt have a setting to change for the file numbering so i dont know how you solve unless you found a way to completely reset the camera possibly.

First of, CK, people here are generally helpful and patient. You know this, so your attitude in your previous posts in this tread is unwelcome. Calm down. Now.

Go to the sony website. Go to customer care, look for the manuals. Down load the *.pdf for the handbook. Then look at pages 55, 58 and 81. Read them, play with the camera.

If you still can't figure it out get back to us.

my canon has an option in the menu to reset the name count, try looking closely through the menus, should be there. and even if it's not who cares?

The reason most cameras remember the picture count is so that when you download them to your PC, you don't end up overwriting your previously downloaded pictures with the same numbers. You should carefully consider before you disable this feature.

ComputerKing: I don't understand just WHY you want to reset the filename counter?? Why not just live with it if it is so difficult to reset the counter?
You could perhaps try removing the memory card and format it on a PC with a card reader and then take the batteries out of the camera for a few days and see if that clears the counter.

Oh and don't be rude to people for being sarcastic or telling you to read the manual closely, just ignore them or perhaps respond with a dignified answer. Being a hard-ass only pisses everybody off... You can't fight fire with fire ;-) (Or said so Americans don't get it: You can't start wars for peace ;-) )

alright, im giving you a response that is what i would do...

When I plug in my camera, i go to "my compuer-disk f(camera)-dcim-" then once there it shows like 4 folders. I think you need to delete all but the first? because otherwise it saves the pictures in the last folder while all the folders before it are empty... but i have a nikon point and shoot and a canon digital rebel(d-slr) so im thinking it should work with your camera.

if not, its not that big of a deal is it:D
good luck. I hope you playing around with yoru camerra means more mods from you?:clap: if not, no worries :D
