any luck figuring it out yet ck?
    is this your camera?
i had i look at it's manual and i couldn't find anything on choosing the file-naming method, so it seems you are stuck with the continuous counting method.
It doesn't bother me, i just use the windows wizard so i don't even see the filename the camera gives.
This way i just plug in the camera to usb, i make sure all the desired thumbnails of pics are ticked, i give the desired group of pics a name (blue leds) and each file is saved on the pc as blue leds 001, blue leds 002, etc...
sorry for explaining this, you probably already know! but i did just in case?
This has worked fine for a couple of different brands of camera, i expect it to work fine with yours... i dont know if you want to do things this way??

No, sounds no one knows the answer. There may not be an answer --what you ask may simply not be possible on your camera.

EDIT: having studied the manual, it appears that picture numbering is important for how the camera indexes them. See page 55 to 61 on Memory management, and pages 76 to 82 on downloading images to your PC.

There appears to be no way you can reset the counter, but you could try re-formatting the memory stick as described on page 58.

I don't see why it matters that much tbh, do you not simply rename pics anyway?

I don't understand the problem either. Why don't you just have a folder for each day of shooting? Its so much better than not having them repeating. I had that problem with my terrible old HP camera and I just stopped deleting my pictures to keep the numbers in sequence.

Maybe you could get a multiple file renamer program.

Actually, the camera already does that. And it comes with viewing software that arranges and displays the donwloaded pictures by date and time.

Picture Motion Browser is actually fairly decent...usable Sony software :jawdrop:

On topic, there's nothing in the menus to change the file naming setting, unfortunately you'll either have to find some sort of a batch renaming program as above, or buy another camera if you can't live with it.

Well if it's really driving you insane and that's the only solution, then that's the only solution. It's not his fault that the camera doesn't seem to support such a feature. There are cameras out there that allow you to do this (mine does, but you'll have to cough out quite a bit if you want a 400D), but there are so many software solutions out there that make organizing photos easy that it doesn't make any sense to even worry about the filename.

Like with watercooling, you get what you pay for. If you want more flexibility, you'll have to buy a more expensive camera --and you'll have to learn how to use it.

Everything in your life is a massive drama, isn't it? Your digital camera won't renumber the pictures like you want it to, nobody on the internet has the complete solution to your problem to hand the moment you want it, there are people earning more money than you, you can't afford this,or that, nothing is going right, your parents hate you.

You have a poor grasp of the English language, we all accept that. But you learned f--k pretty quickly, didn't you? When the mods pull you on it, you pull stupid emoticons like you don't know what they're taking about. Your posts are becoming tiresome. RTT has suggested I use Ignore. I shouldn't have to ignore you, you should not throw tantrums.

Please stay CK, we love you realy.:thumb:

And from what I've gathered, just to clear everything up, Your camera wont do that, the only way is to rename them on the computer.
