    Hey,
I have a very wied boot issue with my Windows XP computer :sigh:. Every second time I boot it, it is all ****ed up. My antivirus program crashes, IE crashes on start up. It has started happening all of a sudden. I have tried looking at startup programs, installed programs and so forth :wallbash:, but nothing has worked. If you know what might be wrong, plz let me know.

    Sounds like:
    1- a virus/malware attack.
    2- damaged HDD.
3- VERY VERY rare however possible: damaged motherboard (or SATA controller if you have those).

there are loads of 3rd party apps on the market. When I test a harddrive I use Maxtor PowerMax. Works well for me & can be used on most makes & models of harddrives.

Well it looks like the problem solved itself... My desktop computer (the one with the problem) does no longer boot. Right after the BIOS it comes up saying Primary Master Hard Drive Error. Press F1 to contunue.
I think i might install Kubuntu 8.04 on the secondary hard drive, and see what i can save.
