ok i dont think you guys will belive this. i was doing some work on a old crappy Gateway 2000 and i found some realy wied things i never saw before.

    1. the CD-ROM had no jumpers and was on a floppy cable.

    2. the floppy was conected to what looks like a ISA floppy controler. i never seen one before.

    3. there was a riser card in it and it was double sided. i never see those before and i wonder why they dont exist today.

what strange findings have you found?

My friend once said to me he had a celeron spare if i wanted it as his work place had chuched out these crappy computers.

When i saw it i was like :eeek: as i had never seen the type of chip before, it wasnt a celeron at all!

Found out it was a Pentium PRO but i had never come across them before. Sadly the motherboard it was in had been in the rain for a few weeks and didnt work :(

Yeah, allot of older machines had those features. Made components allot less interchangeable, which is why most follow standards now.

As for not making the double sided riser card anymore, find a case that takes them and you will probably find a riser card too. There are loads of differently styled riser cards available e.g. here.
