ok i dont think you guys will belive this. i was doing some work on a old crappy Gateway 2000 and i found some realy wied things i never saw before. 1. the CD-ROM had no jumpers and was on a floppy cable. 2. the floppy was conected to what looks like a ISA floppy controler. i never seen one before. 3. there was a riser card in it and it was double sided. i never see those before and i wonder why they dont exist today. what strange findings have you found?
My friend once said to me he had a celeron spare if i wanted it as his work place had chuched out these crappy computers. When i saw it i was like as i had never seen the type of chip before, it wasnt a celeron at all! Found out it was a Pentium PRO but i had never come across them before. Sadly the motherboard it was in had been in the rain for a few weeks and didnt work
Yeah, allot of older machines had those features. Made components allot less interchangeable, which is why most follow standards now. As for not making the double sided riser card anymore, find a case that takes them and you will probably find a riser card too. There are loads of differently styled riser cards available e.g. here.
