    Hello,

Anyone know of a good range extended? as in, you own one, and it works well. I need to do something for someone, wifi ap is about 25 meters away in a seperate building, laptop gets decent-ish signal one side of the room and none the other side so I am going to put a repeater in for them, but normally I cable things so don't really have any experience in choosing. I use alot of draytek ap800's so was probably just going to get one of those unless anyone has any other suggestions?

    thanks people.

are the buildings connected by power cables or separately wired? If connected I would suggest powerline adapters. Before we got the set of Delovo AV200 we where doing what you suggest here and had to constantly reboot router and AP. There must be a way but we did not find it and I used Very high quality/strength non standard antennas and it helped signal strength but kept having to reboot at least once in 24 hours.

Unfortunately - the building are all on separate boxes which all have their own feed - which is annoying.

I proposed the idea to them of running loads of cables for them, as I do have a few barrels of cable but they really weren't down with the idea. And as powerline's are out of the question, wireless is the only way unfortunately.

I would look at some of the ubiquiti long range kit, like the powerAP N which can do 100m, though they are better on large space open floorplan type scenario, it can do good signal through walls.

the building that they need the extra range in, is a barn conversion, very open plan. Thanks will take a look at those.

Edit: their actual router is a bt home hub 3 - im assuming this is N as its fairly new?

Should be a good option then I would say. No idea what bt equipment is as I have no expierience with it being from USA, but if it dosen't do N then perhaps get 2 of the ubiquiti and wire one to the modem, then use the other as a repeater. Would probably be a good idea either way really if there is budget. Would defineatly increase the range potential a great deal.
