    Hey all,

So I've got a wireless connection set up that connects fine when using my Powerbook. The connection is encrypted via WPA. My housemates laptop, running XP (home) connects to the network fine, but cannot access the internet or the internal network. I've tried all the usual suspects, checked the obvious settings, even tried setting up a new user account, with no luck. Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

Has you network got a DHCP Server built in?

If so check that the computer has the dhcp/router's IP as its default gateway.

Hey man, cheers for your post but yeah I'd already configured the default gateway - I should note that I can't connect directly to sites via e.p., not even the routers configuration page.

Have you tried temporarily disabling encryption and see if you are able to connect.

Check that there's nothing ticked in the lan settings on the connections tab in Internet Options and that there's no proxy (unless you use a proxy, of course). You mention it connects fine, is it allocated a proper ip address?

Could be that the XP laptop isnt compatible with WPA, try WEP instead?
