Hi guys my mate has just bought a xfx 5850 1gb for £140 to put in his amd system to play games like call of duty old and present...crysis farcry 2 etc. Thing is will he get bottleneck as his cpu is only an amd 6000x2 but he has 4gb of decent memory thanks guys take care
yeah it will bottleneck friend just swapped out his old 6000+ for an i5 760 and in certain games frames have shot up.
I had a quick look and saw it was nearly as good as a E6600 didn't think it would bottleneck that much.
yeah friend plays FFXIV and thats CPU intensive and his frames have shot up from around 10-15 minimum to a healthy 45-50 minimum now hes running a 5770 1GB which is worse than what your mates bought.
The cpu probably will struggle to keep up a bit in some situations but I bet it's much better than it was before the graphics upgrade
Yup he would be best off putting in an I5769/750. There will be loads on sale in the next week for good prices as people will be upgrading to Sandybridge.
Cheers guys he was using a 9800gtx 1gb but that packed in so decided to buy a 5850 ill let him know lol he will need to upgrade his cpu that will go down well he seems to think cos its a 6000 it will tackle anything he throws at it take care guys and thanks again
I played through Crysis on a 5000+ a couple of years ago. It looked great and ran very smoothly, though obviously I had to turn a few things down (physics). At no point did I think "damn my lack of a fast processor is ruining this game for me" though, so he'll probably be fine unless he's really demanding. I'm guessing he's not though as he's only just upgraded from a 9800GTX... The 6000 should overclock decently, he should try that before deciding to spend cash on an upgrade, unless he has money coming out of his ears.
cheers yslen, no he aint fussy lol he will knock all the settings right down, he wont have a clue on how to overclock his cpu and i aint got a clue iether never done it before matey...if there was a step by step guide i think we could manage it but all the adjusting voltage etc we will cause a fire of blow the cpu out of its socket lol thanks matey take care
you should be able to increase the FSB a few notches without having to increase any voltages but be mindful of the extra heat from the cpu and other chips on the motherboard.
thanks deders...i dont think he will risk overclocking lol, as long as he can game he will be happy, he might just sell his motherboard cpu and memory and buy iether an am3 setup or an i7 setup thanks take care
