Fair enough, my rigs are sometimes slightly OC'd too. I guess my original point was that with the 360 (and PS3) there is no need to do anything as it's a level playing-field. I see it as an advantage when I just want to have a couple of hours gaming without any arsing about. I know that on this forum in particular there are a lot of professional tinkerers!!! My original post was not designed to be a fan-boy type PC vs Console grenade so apologies if it seemed so! As I said I love my PC and I love my 360 (I love my PS3 slightly less - but don't tell it!).
You only need to spend 1.2k at the most to make you're pc strong enough to play almost ANY game maxed. I played consoles for 6 years and when I got my PC I havn't touched it at all. PC>Xbox & ps3 & Any future consoles.
This, tbh. I tend to play more on my 360 (and to a lesser extent my PS3) than my PC these days. But I still like playing the odd game on my PC.
Given how little a second hand Xbox goes for, there won't be a lot stopping you from getting one again should the desire arise
you ll definitely miss it... i miss mine. i LOVE my pc and also enjoy that i dont have to pay for xbox live every month, but you ll miss your xbox friends, and it seems to be getting even harder to get your friends to convert to pc along with you because the cost of a good gaming pc usually scares people off.. overall i enjoy my pc but i find it is a lot more lonely playing on here as you can play with a million strangers, but its not the same as having your friends spam you with loads of game invites on the xbox :/ (from a man that has played and owned all of the online consoles, so i know what im talking about
Sry to say this this, but if you have to go back a forth between game and settings - you either don't know ur system very well, or you have unstable components. I've never had to fiddle with anything graphical on modern games to get best frame rates(Windows xp only games a pain sometimes) CPU: I7 950 MB: Intel Smackover (Not sure exact code) RAM Dominator 6Gb GPU: 1Gb GTX 250 More on topic: go with PC, so much more you can do on a pc that you could do on a xbox. having said that you will miss somethings as niether system is perfect. PC: Cheaper games, easier and cheaper to fix (only replace bad part) but, games buggy, and take ages to install (relative) Console: instantly start playing games, unit more compact, but more expensive games and console
ive had 2 xbox 360's and ended up selling both of them due to bordem, i find fiddeling about with the pc much more intresting
in the same boat, although i don't think i'll take a liking to mouse and keyboard. deffo gonna use my wired xbox pad for this.
I'm sorry but I simply cannot believe that you have never had to go into the graphics settings after the first time you install a game on the PC. I have been doing this for so many years that I lose count and I at least have to set the resolution when I first install a game to 2560x1600.
I dont actually have a huge amount of Xbox live friends, and usually end up playing multi player games against randoms anyway. I had already thought about plugging the PC into the TV (when the missus has gone to bed!), but what do you guys use to support the keyboard/mouse if you're on the sofa? Im sure in one way I'll miss it, but as I said I enjoy fiddling and tinkering, and I see PC gaming as a whole new area to explore! Ironically the fella who was meant to be buying it hasn't shown up for work the last 2 days, maybe fates trying to tell me something....... ;-)
I don't think you'd miss it too much, I had a period without my pc from august till november where I was xbox only but as soon as I got it back I've not really cared about my xbox, I haven't played any games online on it but I do play rock band a lot still trying to improve. I'm much more PC based now and doubt I'll ever play my consoles again as much as I used to.
I had xbox and PS3 alon with my PC. I recently ditched the xbox since i never used it, i do almost all of my gaming on PC. After playing keyboard and mouse for anything first person a controller feels like giving Leonardo Da Vinci an Etch-A-Sketch, cool and quirky until you actually try to do anything useful. I, personally, have found the communities to be a lot more friendly and mature surrounding PC gaming. There are games, such as RTS or god-type simulations, which (and i accept absolutely no argument on this) DO NOT WORK ON A CONSOLE! If you don't like certain genre's then no problem but i love Civ, C+C and the like so console was simply not an option. And briefly back to FPS, Portal 2 will most likely be impossible with a pad, Portal 1 nearly was. Yes consoles get some exclusives, but so does PC. I do still have my PS3 but its primary uses are streaming and blu-ray. In the 9 months i've owned it it's probably had a collective 12 hours of gaming tops. Plus there's plenty of freeware out there to use a PS3 controller if necessary (i.e. driving games if you dont have a wheel set up).
I used to have a 360, then once reach turned out to be naff i gave it away. There's no point to the 360 at all if you've got a decent PC. The ps3 is good for exclusives though
For the people who're complaining about "you have to alter the graphics" yes you do... every pc gamer does, they like to go "yes my pc can play Crysis, Command and Conquer 3, Sup Com 2 on max EVERYTHING!" PC gamers are different to console gamers because we have much higher expectations of the graphics on games that we are provided with! When we install most games revert to "medium" which for most things, is DX9 capable. You then simply go and click "Ultra" or "DX11" or "Default to Card" and you get uber graphics for your card specifically... right? Remember everything has a base value when it comes to graphics, pc gamers will always bump these up. So stop complaining, PC gaming is graphically superior to consoles (Undeniable). *slaps his meat out and hits everyone in the face who dares challenge his awesome*
Tell me about it But his budget is high and theres no need to spend all of it if you can have all you're gaming needs with half the price. Spend the rest on accessories and stuff
I wasn't complaining - merely pointing out that the advantage of the console is that is is instantly playable, whereas PC gaming requires some tweaking. I have got no problem with having to tweak games to get the best out of them, but I also sometimes like to just stick the disk in and play! Your meat is safe - I would not dare challenge it ;-)
I wouldn't do without either of mine, right now I'm playing lots of PC games, a couple of weeks ago I was playing loads of xbox games. It just depends what game I'm in the mood for at the time.
Well I think a pretty clear answer has now given.. you might do or you might not.. .. doesn't get clearer than that really
