I am planning on getting a second computer from futureshop. Its on sale for 300. I'll just be using it for photoshop, surfing the net and building sites with dreamweaver

Anyways all my computers have always been intel processor

But the one i want is a Acer Aspire AMD Athlon LE 1600 2.2GHz Desktop Computer

Should i stick to intel? will my drivers work with amd?

    thanks!

Will you notice the difference? Nope! It's like asking if you'll notice the difference between driving a yellow or a blue car...

Booting will take longer with an AMD processor, as it uses about 5 secs just to show the post screen.

I also find the thermal management/protection on AMDs to be a joke. (I have seen coolers melting plastic on AMD based laptops. This was because of dust buildup, though)

Newer intel CPUs seems to run slightly cooler than similar AMD CPUs. But some of the older intels run ridiculously hot.

It's not much difference in general, though. It varies greatly between models.

As long as there similar CPU, its not a big difference at all, if any. I'm using an AMD and it runs as well as any other processor in its range.
