Hey, around this summer I will probably upgrade my GPU to a Fermi or DX11 ATI card (depends on price : preformance), however this will mean that my brother will intend to buy my GTX 260 in order to go SLI. (would a 216 core vs normal have any problems with SLI?). Anyways, first off his PSU is a Coolermaster 620w modular. The PSU only has two six pin PCI-E however, we do have molex -> six pin adapaters and I believe enough molex cables inside the case to support this. In terms of bottle necks, I'm pretty certain his PC will gain nicely from SLI GTX 260's but I'd prefer some feedback on that first, following specs: Q9550 + Arctic Freezer 7 Pro (is there any one who could help with a nice OC on this?) Asus PN5 SLI motherboard 6gb DDR2 800mhz. Cheers.
My Corsair HX620 has powered an i7 930 @ 3.8GHz, 260 GTX and 9600 GSO, at full load and all folding. The Antec 650W TruePower has the capacity for 4x 6 pin PCI-E adaptors so yes, its more than possible to run dual 5770s, or 260 GTXs with that PSU. EDIT: Don't fall into the trap of some of the PSU nazis round here who believe you need a 850W PSU for SLI or crossfire, because you don't. Yes, if you want to run dual 5870s or 295 GTXs, you need a powerful PSU.
2 6-pins...That's a bit shaky, but it should work, however I can't guarantee it, if it was a corsair HX-650 on the other hand...
Your Corsair 620W had a load more juice on tap than that Coolermaster. I think the Corsair is (12v rail) 18a x 3 and the Coolermaster has less than that (I think).
I tend to agree, I have a coolermaster 850watt and I made a huge mistake getting it. Had to get a Enermax 85+ afterwards. I would rather save up and get a 850watt corsair or even a seasonic
i'd be curious to see how this turns out. the difficulty will be in figuring out which rails power what connectors. cm is not the best out providing this info, so be prepared for a call to customer support. get it wrong, and it's crash city. anyway, you can sli the two cards, and if the resolution is decent, should not bottleneck at all.
