Modding will this touchscreen LCD work ????

    LCD

    I own one of these and I kind of forgot about it anyone have any ideas how I could hook that touchscreen LCD and build it into the case?

    I am horid with electronics but if I had some sort of guide or someone to walk me threw it I could LOL

    hope this works id rather use this than buy a ps1 lcd

    well in hopes to get some sort of reply i figured I would tell you a little more about the pocket PC it runs on windows CE 2.1 and has a 640 x 480 VGA backlit touch screen. thats

    any thoughts?

    in this kind of device the controler for the LCD is going to be totaly intergrated into the rest of the device.

    this means that the screen wont work without the rest of it.

    it is probrably possible to get it working indapendently however if you are "horid with electronics" i would steer WELL clear or attempting this kind of mod.

    There are programs that let you use the whole pocket pc as a display I think :)

    Yah but if your PocketPC is broken there's no real use in that :blah:

    acctualy the thing works fine
    if I could use the whole pc as a display would be great

    where can i get those progs?


    and I have about 6 of these pocket pcs could I use 2 of them on one cpu?

    lol I do IT in a drs office they bought them all a few yrs ago and decided not to use them. so they said "take em home"

    Kewl, for free? That's a good deal mate. I used to have an old palmtop but the schreen broke when I sat on it :eyebrow:

    yeah they are neat to have now id like to get some sort of use from the darned things ....

    Mattt is correct

    The screen needs a controller. Which is built into the device.
    There is no way to run VGA-LCD without a controller.

    www.earthlcd.com sells controllers, but whether or not that LCD is compatible is anyones guess.

    Your best bet is to use a program that uses the PDA as a whole. Basically, the program just emulates it as an xbyx LCD to your Serial/USB port, and then you use any LCD controller program (LCDC, LCDSmartie, there are tons) and you're good to go.

    I know PalmOrb is for PalmOS based PDA's, but I can't remember the name of the one for WindowsCE :worried:
