Hi, I have Windows7 Professional full installed on my PC. I just finished another build and I was wandering if I can buy another Windows7, but upgraded version because I already own full 7 and it's $100 cheaper. Can I use serial key from upgraded version to install a full version?
Yes, though to satisfy the license you should technically have another version of windows that you're not using (eg, an old XP license), but there's no need to install an OS before upgrading.
It's a clean build so needs full installation. So yah if I can buy windows 7 upgrade and use it serial key. Pretty much all I need is a cheap serial key because I already got windows 7 professional full. To my understanding you can use one key per system.
yes you can and it is 1 key per system unless you own a VLK which im guessing you dont as it really a business thing.
Yes you can, though what you own is irrelevant - if you buy the Windows 7 proffessional upgrade, the disks are identical to your full version, the only reason for the price difference is the licensing. So, with your new copy you can install Win 7 on the new machine but you want to avoid activating with the code as it won't recognise it as it was an upgrade key installed on a clean HDD. So, once installed you either need to reinstall it again and then put in the key or you can go into regedit and adjust things there to allow the code to work. I cannot remember the full details as it has been awhile since I did it. But basically if you go to google and type 'installing Windows 7 on clean hard drive' you should get step by step instructions
