Maybe, if it has any decent games that I'd want to play. Price and games being the deciding factor.

    Good points.

    1. It's getting better.
    2. It's been out less then a year, give it a chance! There are already some very promising games out/coming out soon. Warhawk, Gran Turismo 5, Metal Gear Solid, White Knight Story, Final Fantasy XIII compilation, Killzone 2, Kingdom Hearts (you know it's coming), Unreal Tournament III, plus others I can't think of at 2am
    4. The same could be said about any console but you make it sound like a bad thing. But it does offer blu-ray, customizable hard drive, the ability to install other operating systems, sixaxis (yeah a gimmick, I know) built in wi-fi, and support for blue tooth mouse, keyboard and headset, with support for all kinds of fancy dandy HDMI 1.3 stuff.

None of that stuff matters though - The Zodiac and the GP2X both have fistfuls of features, as did the Lynx and Gamegear. Without a host of good games and mass market adoption though, it won't make a difference. The Ps3 has a few games coming out, but a lot aren't exclusive, are delayed or just aren't really that good/appealing to the mass market. Add on top of that the anger in Europe at Sony and it becomes increasingly difficult for the PS3 to take off.

The price needs to be justified first. Buy an overpriced console with little to no games and an unproven media format? no not yet thankyou - i mean why would you when the Nintendo Wii and xbox are already major successes and guarunteed to have a host of games on them - yet ps3 is straggling along and sports a huge price?

    Common sense for teh win.

I wouldn't buy one but I would buy games for one if someone else bought me one. I would never turn down a free game console, hell, I'd take a VirtualBoy if someone gave me one.

Already have a 360 and a Wii. But if I can find a couple games that look worth-while, then I'll look into it, but price doesn't matter all that much if the games are there (paid a little under $1000 when I bought my 360 over a year ago - obviously I got a few games, an extra controller, and a few other things with it, but my point still stands).

Plus the whole sony home or whatever they're calling it looks nifty. It's like reality, but better because it's in HDTV and 3D! :D

Right now though? No point to it. Might as well buy a dreamcast and stuff it up my bum (sideways), as that'll give me about the same amount of pleasure as the PS3 will at the moment.

Nothing at all tempts me on the PS3 tbh maybe GT5 and MGS4 but how far is MGS4 away now apart from that I've seen nothing.

And if im being honest im a HD DVD fan just for the fact they acctually have a standard which all players must adhere too rather than must play blue-ray.....end, and from what I seen better movies on HD DVD if i look to the future.

I have a theory on how to get the best value for your money when buying a ps3.

Dont buy one yet, wait for the good games that are actually worth playing on it, to come out. By the time they do the price will have dropped and im sure there will be some nice bundle deals going with these games.
We get a lower priced console and games that are actually worth playing.

At the moment, im not willing to spend more than £250 on a console - thats allot of money to spend on a games console especially when each game is costing £50 each and then the accessories come into play and their spiraling prices.

No. don't like sony being the reason and refuse to support them.

But even if I did like sony I wouldnt:

    1 - I hate the Dualshock.
    2 - I hate the dualshock.
    3 - No games
4 - Not as into gaming these days anyway.
    5 - Too much stuff I don't need.

Perhaps, to watch movies on but not for gaming.

    Sad but true...

up until about a month ago there was not many games but now there is starting to be alot of games that i like and want to get. many are also on the 360 but i'd still rather have a ps3 cuz of

1 - i hate the feel of the 360 controller
2 - there are much more games that are exclusive to ps3 coming out that i like better than 360's exclusives
3 - blu ray is awesome, way better than hd dvd. more movies. how can hd dvd sell more when the ps3 is a blu ray player. hd dvd is going to die out
4 - 1080p through hdmi 1.3 , the elite has hdmi which M$ said was pointless at first but it's only 1.2 so no 48 bit color
    5 - ps3 upscales ps2 games and dvds to 1080p
6 - features ex: bluetooth, videos, music, pictures, internet (im posting this on my ps3 right now)
7 - FREE online gaming with NO LAG just like XBL. also the devs have more control on how they make the gams online so they can set up their servers how they want to ( example is Socom confrontation. the socom series has the best online lobby system of any game i've plaed) XBL has te online setup terrible compared to socom. well actually every game ive played online has had a sucky setup compared to socom.

i dont give a crap about Home really. but many people will. but there are atleast 18 games comig out for ps3 this year and next yar that i will want to get. most are multi platform but GT5, KZ2, MGS4, and Socom isnt and those are probly the ones i want the most.

but hey thats my opinion. i realize there are not a whole lot of reasons to get one fo many people but i knew i was going to get one yet so i just bought one after price drop. they are not that xpensive. im just 17 with just a PT job and workd FT in summer. unless you hav many things to pay for thres no way anyone around my age cant afford one.

a new video card can cost over $500! for what you are getting its frikin cheap.

have fun with w/e console u have or ur pc! i know i wll! :)

I am an experienced gamer but I left the console world after playing the games I wanted to play on the GameCube (zelda, metroid, mario) and I haven't been reading much about consoles ever since. Therefore I can be considered as a 'potential new customer' by sony, microsoft and nintendo.

Well let me tell you that Sony has done nothing at ALL to catch my attention. The only original PS3 game I can name is Motorstorm (because I saw it at my friend's) and it didn't impress me at all (even visually)

I think sony has missed the boat with PS3. Their hardware is too expensive, there are no games that are worth the price of the console and, more surprisingly, their marketing campaign is almost non-existent (canada).

I wonder what happened... The PSX was awesome and the PS2 had good games

Someone did a comparrison between the two and there's no difference to most people below 42" 1080p. I'm sure cpemma has the link somewhere.

QFT, theres also a comparison's of HDMI and Component and it says the same thing about how it doesn't matter due to the end users TV and setup.

Actually, there is a difference between component and HDMI in movies and games, games is more subtle, but the colours are clearer. Between HDMI and VGA though for the 360, there's nothing

The article i read did say that but its dependant on the quality of the cable itself, as the article went into depth about the Digital-to-digital conversion that HDMI does compares it to the Digital-To-Analog of componant. It does say HDMI is better but the componant is a longer lasting and easier to implement with manufactuers.

But then again its all up to the TV the end user is playing the console on. But i think is a huge pisstake that Sony prides itself on a HDMI connection but doesn't provide any cables which is a slap in the face.

yeah, as I say, 1.3 is only useful on 42"+ displays and only Sony ones IIRC. Anything else, 1.2 is fine and cheaper ;)
