i have a good reason not to like blue-ray, everytime someone buys a blue-ray disc or device its funds sony that little bit more. Good enough reason not to.
No most likely not. I'll have to wait and see. Microsoft dissapointed me by removing the HDD and charging up the arse for the accessories.
onlive will rape any competition when it gets rolled out. I will however look at it and laugh as ep3 will be out by then and then hl3, which will be superior on pc.
I will more than likely own the new xbox but not with in the first year of it being released due to stupidly high prices
+1, this says it all basically. I think the crushing victory is best emphasised by a quote in an Engadget review I saw months ago about some player with the capability for both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD; the latter, they bemusedly surmised, "for the memories." What's with the Sony-hate, BTW? Are they worse than the average corporate monster? My Dad used to work there, would love to be able to annoy him with tales of corporate misdeeds...
And also rape any internet connection. The concept is good but I am not entirely sure its realistic especially here in the UK where download/upload speeds are terrible. And what about lag? That will be a major issue and I dont mean just playing with others, for example: Your playing a game and every action, press of the button etc requires your internet connection to send a signal to onlive to carry it out as well as run the game...your connection needs to be really good to handle that and more so when you play with 10-20 people online competitively. The UK broadband infastructure is poor, really poor and it would struggle with onlive in its current state....i think most countrys would..
Well for me it's the sheer staggering levels of corporate arrogance/ego that Sony put out in the run-up to the PS3 launch that tipped the balance. It was so bad i was starting to wonder if Sony's PR dept were staffed solely by microsoft and nintendo employees trying to undermine them, as Sony only ever seemed to open their mouths to exchange feet. Hopefully the past few years have beaten down Sony's ego a lot for the coming generation, but it still leaves such a lingering bad effect for me, i'll still be considering MS to be the lesser of two evils out of Sony/MS until proven otherwise...
Probably... eventually. I have (since owning a '360) grown quite fond of Console gaming, and as such will probably upgrade. That's IF it comes, and once the pricing has stabilized... now that i have a proper HDTV (which i bought for console gaming and DVD watching, as the Cinemas here are sh*t beyond belief), i won't be so hesitant this time around...
That's why I don't bother listening to the PR department of any large corporation, I just go on the facts... I buy whatever product is best for me at the price I want to spend, so removing a large proportion of the consumer electronics market because of some crap that came out of a PR spokesman (does anything else ever come out of a PR spokesman?) is cutting off your nose to spite your face.
i put myself down as a yes, awaiting the specs price etc, as long as its equal or better than anything sony release next. just my preference at the moment its not back up by which is best, just that id prefer xbox to PS3 ill definately not be an early adapter i know that much, im happy enough with the graphics on the 360 at the moment I cant see it happening anytime soon, with times being tough enough MS wont want to release a new more expensive console for a good while yet.
One big thing for me would also be backwards compatibility. i.e. if the next gen MS console were to not support my (admittedly rather large at 45 or so games) collection of '360 titles, it'd be a completely open game... if however they do support me playing my current games on that console, that does tilt the tables a bit in MS's favour.
Will you buy the next xbox I will never buy a 360 anymore, we have 2 xbox 360s with the rings of death. My brother repaired his one like 10 times by replacing new coolers and even that didnt worked out long. Also he overheated it a few times to get it working. I have no a Sony Playstation 3 and i am more happy with that console that a xbox 360 console. The only thing i miss from the 360 on the ps3 are the Halo 3 games. Playstation 3 features: - Bluray player - Online gaming without paying anything xbox live crap - No noice player reading etc I have read somewhere that if you mod the ps3 the bluray player will die very fast
I have both consoles at the moment, each has it's merits and flaws. I fully expect to get the next xbox. If they continue to charge for online gaming it will be used purely for those single player exclusives though. Xbox live is great, it's reliable and works which is more than can be said for PSN lately. However I don't like the subscription model to play the online modes games I've already paid for!
the one upside to subscription is that if you have no interest in online play or cant get broadband your not funding a part of the console you wont use when you buy it. its not much consolation though for someone that pays for live maybe a once off fee would be better
