    hey all

Mate of mine has a pc running win 7 with 2 6600gts that display 4 screens.

Every 5-10 minutes (or sometimes randomly) the screens all go black for about 20 seconds and then go back on as per usual.

The latest nvidia drivers for the 6600gt's are installed, however there is no sli bridge connected (not sure if thats a problem?).

Anyone have an idea on how to solve it, i've reinstalled the drivers, switched the cards around and to no hope :/.

    Any help would be appriciated.

Do they both work individually? If so, try it with an SLI bridge.. Aren't they just a few dollars?

Should only really need an SLI bridge if you want to actually use SLI. Enabling SLI would probably limit the max amount of monitors to 2.

Are they all the same refresh rates?
Does this happen with 1, 2 or 3 monitors plugged in?

    hey

Yeh I thought an SLI bridge would make a maximum to 2 monitors.

    All same refresh rates.

Seems to be a problem when moving windows over each of the screens / new window appearing? :S

How is the multi monitor setup? via Windows itself or the Nvidia CPL?

Enabling SLI doesn't limit to 2 Screens, Can allow upto 6, depending on System setup.

I think you'll find that it depends on your setup, if you look at the configuration options on that page you linked you'll see that as most single Nvidia cards only have 2 video out engines, Because of the way SLI makes 2 cards look like 1, in SLI mode you still only have 2 video out engines. This is why they have to be plugged into the same card, whether it's 2 or 3 way SLI.

If you want 3 or 4 outputs you need either:
    1 card and 1 IGP
    2 separate cards
2 cards in SLI and an additional card or IGP

for 5 or 6 monitors you'd need either:
2 separate cards and 1 IGP
    3 separate cards
2 cards in SLI, a separate card and an IGP.

Try having a look in the Nvidia multi monitor setup. It can be quite fiddly to disable the windows one so that Nvidia can override it, you may need to unplug them all and restart.
