    Hi,

I dualboot W8 & XP, this morning W8 did not boot normally but, in a very restrictaed way reminisent of the XP "Safe Mode", with the error icon saying
" HD problem" back your files, pls see attached.

I recycled the HD cables rebooted W8 several times with the same, then booted in XP & all worked fine, no problems reported, even FSX worked.

Can anybody help on this please?

Sometimes the disk itself is fine, but there may be a filesystem error. I had that happen to me on a drive not too long ago. It tested good with seatools but Windows kept insisting there was a problem with it until I reformatted.
I would definitely run the hd manufacturers diagnostic software. If it is failing better to do any back ups while it can still function.

    Thanx,

    Will try the same.

Saved the vidals, will only loose the last 3-4 days IE Favorites.

EDIT:- Were you dual booting w8 & xp?, as mine in xp works OK.

I started Seatools & chose SMART test. Is now 30mnts & nothing appeared in the Test Status, it probably works quietely as the Abort button is live.

XP will still work okay as there are not as many (if any) checks like there are in Windows 8.

It'll take a good while to scan a 1TB drive. It's probably best to leave it for a few hours. :)

My mistake. It'll still take a good while to scan. :)
