Hi all, i am in the middle of building a sever this server will be used to handel my music, internet connection and my files.
I was talking to someone earlier today and they said that for my needs i would not bother advesting in Windows Server so he said why not use Win 98 this is becuase i dont require the features that win server offers i think this is a good idea becuase win 98 at the end of the day win 98 runs on the same protocall as win xp home so i will work on my network. Iam looking for your advice.
    Cheers

Sounds a nice simple task to me. I presume you are using a workgroup at the moment on however many pcs you have??? Just go for the 98 and slap it on your domain fill it with mp3s and share the folders. A lot simpler than using a domain controller like you would with a 2k server. Plus if you are using XP home if memory serves i don't think they are capable of connecting to domains. MS being oh so smart and clever there. For internet i guess you mean controlling bandwidth and sharing the connection??? I cant off hand remember any programs but there are plenty about that let you specify internal IP addresses that get priority over the bandwidth. Good Luck matey.
