Just upgraded my dads machine (k6/2 500) from win98 to win2k.

problem is when i go to shut it down, it presents me with the

'it is now safe to turn off your computer' message

it is an ATX mobo and psu, so why is it doing it?

    Cheers for any help :)

Do you have acpi on?, if not try that. Otherwise try microsofts knowledge base.

    right.

    Go into Control Panel.

    Then System.

Then go under the Hardware Tab.

    Then Device Manager.

Then view > show hidden devices.

now, i forgot the exsact name, but there will be something like ACPI disabled. enable it and your sorted.
