Im trying to install a printer on my dad's computer, running XP 64 bit edition. I've tried several different printers, but they all come up with the same problem. When I plug the printer in, the found new hardware wizard comes up. It says that "generic IEEE 1284.4 printing support" was not found." I've looked online for this driver, but I cant find it anywhere. Automatic updates also turn up nothing. Any suggestions?

Ive tried several. The one I ultimately want to work is the HP color laserjet 3500. It has a 64 bit driver. Ive tried installing the driver, but it did nothing.

What do you want the printer for?

If you are just installing a driver so you can print to PS then I'm sure HP have laser drivers that print to PS (I've used them in the past). If you cant get one working, just try another one?

If you are just after a printer that has drivers for Windows x64 then Canon at least have them.
