Hi all I've installed Windows 7 onto my laptop, and it works great, except for one problem. I've got no sound. I've checked device manager, and it comes up saying 'High Definition Audio Device' Windows says it has an audio driver in the sound menu and on the volume control there is no red x to imply there was something missing. I have no warnings or error when I try to play audio. Anyone got any ideas? The laptop is a Satellite Pro A120 (PSACOE) I've tried the Realtek HD drivers from Toshiba's website, and the AC97 ones from the realtek website - still got nothing
Try tweaking some of the settings for the HDAD, or see if there's another device/speakers that can be set to "default". I came across a similar problem when building a desktop (with Windows 7) for my cousin.
I've checked all the settings and not come up with anything. Also there is no other audio device under sound. I've not found anything in the BIOS or on google either. Anyone got any ideas?
Is it possible that the hardware volume dial is set to mute? Try hitting FN+ESC? If not, try this? http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB7C021B0001R01.htm I know it's for Vista, but it might carry over.
Docodine, thanks for that - I'll give that a go on the next install. I've got XP back on there for the second, but i'm going to find a way to image the hard disk so I can reinstall XP over the network / CD should it all go wrong. I'll find out a way of doing that next, and then let you know how the next run of 7 works
