I have been having some problems with permissions on Win 7. When a CD automatically ripped to My Music on C:, I went to move it to the media portion of my drive D: but it said I had no permission to do so, even though there is only one account and I am the administrator. I manged to fix the permissions on the folder to eventually allow me to move it, after many warnings. Last night I again had a problem where I had created a folder in the Programs(x86) folder some that I could unpack a RAR game file into it. The unpacking failed with both 7-Zip and WinRAR so I checked the permissions on the folder and despite being the creator and administrator it was set as read only. I found that no matter what I did every time I tried to change the permissions on that folder it would not accept my changes even though I said do it as administrator. I then unpacked the file to another temp location and copied and pasted the files to the new folder. This seemed to work OK. However when I ran the game launcher it ran up until I had to choose a writable forlder to put the download files into. It would not let me select the folder I had created. Should I just go to the top level folder (Programs Files(x86) and set top down permissions for full access to all folders and sub folders? Any help/advice would be much appreciated.
right click and 'run as admin' when opening winrar.. give it access to write into the program files (x86) folder
