http://www.windows7key.org.uk/ Just found this on my travels and thought, Is this the same scam? The English on this website is terrible
Same scam. I don't think Windows 7 starter is available to buy anywhere. It's bundled with Netbooks, you certainly can't buy it anywere reputable in the UK. You'll end up getting Beta activation codes of just plain false ones.
Yes, and .org.uk? Sounds fishy. In addition: -> The USB key is clearly XP Box with Win7 slap onto it. -> There is no official USK key version of Windows -> Again, the shadow of the Enterprise box of Win7 is wrong. Which means that this is not the official product picture (which isn't, because Enterprise edition is just a disk, no box). -> As mentioned Windows 7 Starter edition isn't available. Only select OEMs with special Microsoft agreement has it. The cost of the license is unknown. -> Windows 7 Home Basic is for emerging markets only. And Microsoft makes sure that it is only sold there, and with systems. -> Website looks like a web template was used -> Having 32 and 64-bit version separate, means that the keys are OEM. In such case Microsoft license requires that you purchase a hardware part with it. Microsoft does check for that. A requirement to meet Microsoft partnership program. -> Contact Us/About Us has no company address or information -> on the about page, they say a lot, "Windows 7 Key, Office 2010 Key, and Office 2007 Key ". Clearly trying to get Google attention. -> English is poor, and About us section sound the same old generic stuff, and non sense -> They about Live Chat option, but there isn't one. -> Only available e-mail is at: "@godcart.com", which is EXACTLY the same website, but sales other products. Why 2 domains? Also godcart.net is also Exactly the same as windows7key, where they only sale license keys, same web site design. Clearly fake.
malwarebytes antimalware, picks up windows7key.org.uk as dodgy, and blocks it, also, i have contacted microsoft, who say there are only 2 sites authorised to sell keys directly to consumers, they are going to investigate tradeunited. also as goodbytes stated, windows starter is not available for resale, or for that matter your average oem pc builder, its designed for netbooks, and is available only to those who produce netbooks or other low powered devices (tablets)
Even if the key is valid (to WGA) it makes me think where or how they were obtained These links have the same details as AstralWanderer found, he sells everything from sugar to Windows keys... Sweet! (that was a terrible joke!) http://www.alibaba.com/member/uk118216595/aboutus.html#companyprofile http://www.ecplaza.net/trade-leads/fahadktk.html
Just to follow up from my purchase, I managed to confirm through a friend of mine that the key from Trade United was probably MSDN-based. So, I sent an email to Paypal with the following message via a dispute: Once escalated from dispute to claim (which I did immediately), the refund was issued by Paypal within an hour. Figured this info would be useful to anyone in need. Will be reporting the site to MS now.
I cant even get to that web site! Malwarebytes says HELL NO and even Google chrome said hang on a minute young lady thats a bad bad site. So beware! I buy all my 7 license from Scan for both myself and my customers. At £70 quid for HP either 64/32bit its a bargin. The ultimate is obviously dearer, but my motto is by cheap by twice! So just buy the proper version and dont mess around with doggy copies. I love 7 and am happy to pay for it.
Oh and another note dont buy Office or Window from PlayTrade - I got a copy of office for £65 Home and Student Edition 2007 which a customer of mine needed for their child to use. It arrived but on opening it was 2010 - which I didnt want as the machine they had needed the 2007 key hence me buying 2007. Contacted the buyer who told me to stop complaining as I had a better version in there opinion. Sat with my iphone I Red Lasered the bar code which didnt work. So I got out my Office box and scanned it beep - Office 2007 Pro bla bla. Then it got me looking at this 2007 more closely. Boom a fake and a bloody good one at that. I still have the box as I emailed the seller and rang Play.com who were not bothered at all. I left a negative review on the sellers page. Right away I got an email saying remove the review and I will refund you - needed in the money back I did. But they where selling high quality fakes of Windows 7, Adobe stuff and Office. They refunded me but would not provide an address to send the fake back so its sat here in the Office. To the none pc user they havent a clue I asked a few people to spot the difference and they couldnt so watch out what you buy
Chrome now includes gender detection? Typically Google - creepy to the core... Fake goods should not be returned to the sender - you could incur criminal liability by doing so. Best advice is to contact your local Trading Standards office if you haven't already done so.
Don't think that was a typo - Play.com is like Amazon. Here is more about PlayTrade on the Play.com web site.
Play lets people sell through the site - and its called Play Trade. So I rang play.com and they said oh just contact the seller - I said I did and he's isnt bothered about selling illegal software - Play didnt seem bothered either! Microsoft didnt seem that ar$e either tbh! If anyone wants to see pics of the fake let me know I took loads of pics of the packaging etc.
depends who you talk too @ microsoft use this page to report counterfit software, microsoft will get back to you. i got a reply same day when i reported Tradeunited.
Thanks for the info. I also purchased a CD Key from this person back in September which naturally has now stopped working. I have put in a dispute to paypal and hope to have my money back soon. Thanks for the info, the way you have phrased your dispute with paypal was well written and mirrored very closely to how mine was sent!
