The message everyone keeps getting with the downloaded Windows 7 64-Bit files RE: “We are unable to create or save new files in the folder in which this application was downloaded…” is for this reason and this reason only, it's because people are downloading the 64-Bit version of the setup files on a 32-Bit OS such as Windows XP 32-Bit or Windows Vista 32-Bit, now at the very END of the extraction of the setup files from the box files it attempts to run the 64-Bit Setup EXE for Windows 7 on a 32-Bit version of Windows which simply will not work!

And I found this out by trying to extract the box files on Windows XP Professional 32-Bit and getting the same error as everyone else “We are unable to create or save new files in the folder in which this application was downloaded…” at the very end of the extraction because 32-Bit Windows can't run a 64-Bit exe file (the Windows 7 64-Bit Setup File) so I checked how many files had been extracted and how many folders had been created which was 874 files and 199 folders, now once I'd managed to get Windows 7 installed (after creating an ISO from the extracted files and burning it to disc) I then just to see if my theory was right unpacked/unboxed all of the files again, this time on the 64-bit version of Windows 7 Professional and it extracted the exact amount of files and folders as it did on Windows XP 32-Bit which was 874 Files and 199 folders WITH NO ERROR! The only reason an error occurs for everyone else is because the 64-Bit exe try's to run once ALL the files are extracted but it can't on 32-Bit versions of Windows which is why the error comes up, there are no files missing or corrupt despite the error, the error only comes up simply because a 32-Bit version of Windows cannot run a 64-Bit exe.

    SOLVED!

To sum it up and worded slightly better by someone else from another forum please read the below!

This error occurs when you are in the unloading phase of the 64-bit Windows 7 download process and are running a 32-bit version of Windows such as Windows XP or Windows Vista 32-bit. This is by design as you cannot launch setup for the 64-bit version of Windows 7 while running a 32-bit operating system.

Well that's good to know, seeing as the setup worked when burnt to disc. I was wondering if the error would have an effect post-install

    What?

Did you follow the instructions to the letter? It's not rocket science lol, you need to run it from a Command Prompt which you need to right click and select "Run As Administrator" and did you also download this file oscdimg.exe from here Oscdimg.exe Download Location

Let us know how you get on because if it's done correctly I guarantee you it works.

    P.S) Here's a simple guide for you

Move the expanded setup folder to your C:\ Drive so it's located here C:\expandedSetup then AFTER you have put the file oscdimg.exe in your Windows\System32 folder run the command prompt as an Administrator as I mentioned by right clicking and selecting "Run as Administrator" then type in the command prompt oscdimg.exe –bC:\expandedSetup\boot\etfsboot.com –u2 –h -m -lWIN_EN_DVD C:\expandedSetup\ C:\Win7.iso

Then once you've done that burn it to DVD and bobs your aunties uncle

P.P.S) You don't have to give the disc a name if you don't want so you could actually leave out the -lWIN_EN_DVD and just type oscdimg.exe –bC:\expandedSetup\boot\etfsboot.com –u2 –h -m C:\expandedSetup\ C:\Win7.iso

Oh and there is NO GAP between the part that says bC:\expandedSetup\boot\etfsboot.com
