@rollo: It didn't bother you with iPhone5, did you? You got the price just few days before the sales started. Why should MS announce the pricing months or weeks in forward ?

Not just lack of pricing faug its lack of even confirmation that it will even see a uk release, there's been no word at all. 1day before release conference is cutting it fine.

And you had that with Apple ? No. The show during the summer was the preview, they were just too eager to show you what they bring out soon, they probably expected iPad mini to be announced much sooner so they jumped the gun. The real, final presentation of the device (comparable to the iPhone 5 announcement) will be now, in October. That is when they should release dates, not months ago.

My Girlfriend is a uni student studying medical science. She got me a full RTM key for Windows 8. Got it early and been running the full version for a week.

    I for one, love it.

I'm guessing this feature update for the music app will basically provide the same beautiful now playing visuals as the zune software which is easily the best looking of any music software going.

Anyone know if the zune software is going to get scrapped? I still prefer to use it on my desktop pc, although it would be totally unusable on a tablet with all its tiny controls. The music app can work well by snapping it to one edge of one of my screens, however I still feel that browsing through my lather large collection is a but cumbersome. Where is the option of simply pressing a letter to quickly skip to those artists/albums/songs that start with that letter? They could implement the same system they have for browsing contacts on a WP7 device if they want and I'd be happy (click/tap the letter at the top of the group which gives you the option to select a different letter).

It is certainly improving all the time though, and the new Xbox music service sounds good. I used the trial of the zune pass when I got my phone, but couldn't justify the monthly fee as I already own a lot of music. But it worked exceptionally well, and a free ad based service will be popular, just as Spotify is. Smart DJ which will be integrated in the next update, is another great feature that I especially loved when I tried the zune pass.

Doesn't necessarily mean the zune software will be ditched, even if the name will be changing to xbox music or something similar. I suppose MS will need to keep it going because those running WP7 devices will need it to manage them.

Acer tablet ( its not really a tablet ) pc has nice specs, worried about the weight of the device vs the competing ultrabook market though. Still if hits these shores at £550 -£600 which is the dollar translation I'd be very tempted as would others of imagine.

It will be from 599 GBP for the cheapest to 740 GBP for the most expensive. Reason ? US prices doesn't include sales tax nor VAT.

Sooo... £599,-- for a touch-screen ultrabook-spec PC, that can function as tablet and laptop, has USB, SD card slot, will play nice with any networked printer/scanner/NAS, runs full-fat Windows applications including the whole Office suite? Yeah, I could see that sell. :)

The Nokia 920 lumia has been given AT&T exclusive in America can see some of my friends going emo as they do hate that company, hopefully it does not get exclusive crap in uk. 02 and iPhone bring back bad memories.

Just to be clear - i got the £599 from $799 = £493.36 (according to Google) + 20% = £592.035, and to make it nice "round" number it is rounded up to £599. Of course there is a possibility that due the warranty they will slap £50 on top of that price, but considering US Acer warranty is 1 year at least anyway, it probably will be just a straight conversion and some minimal markup.

US is a very specific market in mobile phone area, you can't base anything on that.

Was just looking at the Lumia 920, shaping up to be a nice bit of kit. I can't remember when my contract is up, but I might be due an upgrade soonish and after loving WP7 and 7.5 in particular, I'm certain I'll go for a WP8 device, and that Nokia is looking the nicest so far. Might be a little big for my tastes though, I like the size of my Mozart which has a 3.7" screen. Still no SD card slot is annoying as well, especially because it appears the cheaper and less features 820 has one which suggests that unlike WP7 and 7.5, WP8 will support removable storage. I took my Mozart apart to install a 32GB mSD card, and I'd still like more space for all my music, so 32GB on board + a 32GB mSD card would be perfect.

Anyone heard much about what we should expect from WP8? Are we talking something very similar to the RTM of Windows 8? Or should we be expecting something more akin to WP7.5? Anyone even know if WP7.5 devices will be able to upgrade to WP8 (officially or otherwise)?
