Hi all, I recently rebuilt my PC by swapping the case from a Silverstone Fortress FT02 to Fractal Define R5.

The problem I'm having is that when booting the PC it doesn't boot past the windows screen just hangs, this happens intermittently, sometimes I have to press the reset button 3 times just to get it to boot..

I've unplugged and re plugged both sata and power cables numerous times, but to no avail.

The motherboard is a Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe and the SSD is a Samsung 830 256gb. What could this problem relate to?

assume you lifted out the mobo with the components and dropped it in the new case? All the same make sure the ram, video card and cpu are properly seated.

Check you plugged everything back in, particularly the cpu power connector, 4 pin for you i think.

Then go to bios and and check your cpu temps. Could be the cpu is overheating if the cooler was unseated or the fans have not been plugged in.

The problem for me still persists.....Can this happen if the SSD or Motherboard could be damaged by static during installation?

Update: The computer is fine with the panels off. As soon as I've turned the computer on and off several times to check it boots ok, I'll put the panels back on only for it to stop working again...awfully strange.

Could it be the Define R5 case itself? as illogical as that could be...

I'd probably be temtped to replug in all the cables including motherboard and cpu especially gpu making sure they're firmly in place.

Check there are no cables that are frayed/broken/exposed that could be contacting the side panels once they're put back on and so causing a short...?

I've checked all the cables and re-plugged everything. Even applied new thermal past to the CPU.
Problem still persists. From your experiences what else could cause this?

Could it be a faulty PSU? even though the computer was working perfectly fine before transferring parts.

Do you get a fan warning from the bios on boot? I had something similar on a build where I had not attached the cooler properly, the temps were going to Tmax. I would boot to the bios and monitor all fan speeds and temps in the bios. In the bios all the components should basically be idle so any component going off the chart such as the cpu means there is a cooling issue. Check low fan rpm warnings and inspect any such fan as may mean a fan is faulty (although I have had to turn off fan warnings on low rpm PWM fans). Monitor the cpu temp which should not ramp towards Tmax, if it does you may not have applied the cooler properly but reread the noctua installation instructions because I think it is a screw in type where you can over apply pressure and crush your cpu/socket.
