Can anyone recommend any Windows Emulators, besides WINE as i can't get many things i love on Windows to work on Ubuntu. :wallbash:
Which is preventing me from making the full switch.

    Thanks, Elliott.

I Already have VMware, however i was looking for something more like wine. I used VMware when playing around with different linux distros, but i was hoping for something which i don't need to use another operating system for.
    Thanks none the less.

I was looking into Cedega. Although, i read on some other thread, that it costs money, and i find that is against the the views of the open source community.
Or am i speaking nonsense

Not everything for Linux is open source. I've never used Cedega, but it's a binary blob I think.
WINE's actually pretty good, were you using the default config?

Yes, i havent really messed around with it. Except when i was trying to run Halo and to change the resolution settings.

Well mainly i want to use iTunes, WLM and a few games like halo CE (I like it Old School :D)
However, i have used some alternative; such as rythmbox whihc i quite like, although you cannot sync your iPod with it. Also, i have used different IM like aMSN, GAIM, Pidgin etc. etc. But they havent given me the same options and feel as WLM.

Cedega's just based on WINE anyways. Granted, it works better, but I don't use it out of principle.

Try AmaroK for media playing. It has lots of features and I won't be surprised if it can handle iPods too (or search in your package managers, I'm sure there are iPod tools)

I use aMSN for MSN, it gave me a WLM-like feel (with the correct theme) but lost all the bloatware. What options you like to have that aMSN doesn't offer?

Well really its more to do with Windows Live Messenger Plus and all its features like colour in the display name, tabbed chats etc.
Its manily because, the majority of people in my contact list have MSN Plus so therefore, if i'm on normal aMSN, Pidgin or MSN itself i have a list of colour codes which gets so annoying :eyebrow:
Although, i havent tried using WINE to install it as such, but i have looked on the app Database; on Wine's website.

All features of aMSN out of the box...

aMSN also plays nice with those, at least on my contacts... But then again, I use it for chatting, not for posing with lots of bells and whistles

running closed-source windows games is against the spirit of open source. it's a good piece of software. if you think it's worth money to be able to play games on linux, then pay for it.

Neither do I. It isn't the emoticons its MSN Plus colour codes, For example [c=32][c=31][c=30][c=29][c=28][/c][/c][/c][/c][/c]

I do agree I might have a look into it, however i have found some good linux alternatives.

Yes it costs money, a subscription fee. Also, if you want any piece of software to help you use proprietary software why do you care what the free software community thinks?
