It intersting more hasn't been made of this in the press - it is afterall a major boob by a huge company that has a lot rolling on Win 7 Phone success...

Is it because no one cares about Win 7 Phone?

Microsoft made a full statement on the problem.

It only affects SOME Samsung phone users due to their different version that Samsung put in of Windows Phone 7 (older that what was supposed to be on the device, as first official version).

The problem occurs when the internet connection is very low which can corrupt the update. Microsoft suggests to do it over the computer and if the computer is on wireless, to do it in a area of a strong signal.

The second problem is that either the computer of the phone is out or very low in disk space.

Microsoft has blocked the update for these phones, until they release a patch for the update or the Zune software (I guess a to verify against corruption and check if the system and device has sufficient space, and possibly bring the Samsung phone version to the same version as everyone else).

Microsoft estimate under 10% of people are affected.
