I've been running Windows 7 Pro for quite a while now and I've noticed for quite sometime there has been NO Windows Updates available as in none at all for the last few weeks maybe more, is that the case for everyone or has something happened to my installation that's stopped it showing updates? The only reason I ask is yesterday my installation of Windows XP Pro said there were 2 updates available, 1 security update and the malicious software tool, and I've just come onto Windows 7 and Windows update on there came up with 2 updates the exact same 2 that were on Windows XP 1 security update and 1 malicious software tool. Both my Windows XP Pro and Windows 7 are legit installations and I know Windows XP Pro has no updates available as Microsoft discontinued support for XP but I find it strange Windows 7 hasn't had any updates for such a long time then it gets the same 2 that Windows XP gets, is Windows 7 really that secure that it doesn't need updates!! P.S) My Windows 7 Pro I got through the student offer but it's still the full retail version so it should be fine.
A new MRT tool is released each month and you have Windows Defender update showing up every couple of days unless you set it to install updates automatically. Regular updates are once a week or once every two weeks.
Proper updates come on Patch Tuesdays, the 2nd Tuesday of every month. There were only two yesterday. W7 just doesn't have many updates yet.
I noticed that Windows 7 HP had a couple of updates this week. If you didn't get them automatically, perhaps you should go into whatever the part of windows it is (security centre?) and have it check manually?
Less Critical updates required is, of course, a good thing. Less Critical updates supplied, not so much
