My computer shut off due to being too hot (not enough fluid in my liquid coolant system) I added more liquid and got the computer to start up but now it goes through the boot process when the Windows loading screen appears It flashes a blue screen of death msg and then reboots, if I leave it alone then it it will just continue this cycle indefinately... I dont think I fried anything, no evidence of burning or funky smells. Do I just need to reinstall windows XP?
its onscreen for less than a second it just flashes blue I can make out some white text then its gone and the comp reboots I cant turn off the auto reboot because I cant get into windows at all when I try to boot in safe mode it loads all the files then blue screen reboots. I verified all the fans are spinning (pow source etc) everything plugged in the fluid is circulating. Tried booting in safe mode, last known good config etc. Havent reformatted cause i cant find my windows disc and dont want to pay for it again
So in safe, it loads all the files, then goes to windows screen, then blue screen, or does it blue screen while its on the screen loading files?
its on the screen listing files specifically stopping on windows\system32\drivers\mup.sys stops there for 30 seconds or so then blue screen reboot
Try removing your mem sticks one at a time, on a client's system, I had a similar issue and it was a dead memory stick. Seeing as you had the heat issues, may have fried a stick. Edit: Another thing to try, see if you can get into Recovery Console off an XP cd, and at the prompt run chkdsk.
Go into the BIOS and check the CPU temperature, leave it on the screen for about 10-15 minutes (if it lasts that long) and see what temp it gets to.
Sounds like an external peripheral. By external I mean anything that is not the motherboard, CPU, HSF, RAM, graphics, HDD , Optical drives and keyboard/mouse. Disconnect all un-needed hardware. And see if it boots. Anything that occurs after mup is normally internal driver loading.
