Windows windows xp

i have a copy of windows which carnt be verified ,what are the disavantages or what carnt i do can i still up
grade certain updates and what about sercurity updates can i download the latest version of internet explorer
any tips thanks........(windows xp pro)

 

I assume this is a warez copy of XP. If you read the forum rules, ways around the protection are not a topic open to discussion, and to be honest, pirated XP is a pain in the ass to operate after so long, and so I advise you go and purchase a full copy, or if you're in education, see if your educational establishment has an agreement with MS for cheap / free software through MSDNAA

 

Go buy a genuine copy, and stop using pirated software.

And if it is genuine, just call Microsoft.

Ever thought that maybe he's using a legitimate CD with a legitimate CD-Key (OEM etc) yet MS thinks its invalid?

 

i have had this problem and the best thing to do is to call out to india (microsoft) and have them send you an unlock code/ updated key

 

^ Yup, that's the best idea. If it isn't a legal copy of Windows then we can't help. Its so cheap now (even Vista!), go buy an OEM copy.

Phone up MS and get it activated then.
If it's an illegal copy then work it out yourself.

 

where did he ask about getting it verified? where did he say it was a stolen copy? maybe he updated his pc's hardware and now he has to call in to get it done but doesn't realize that? Why do people assume so much and why do they always assume the worst?

anyway, to answer the question that was posted, the disadvantages are:
If you dont verify it then you cant update it. the windows site wont let you, and without updating it you are wide open to all kinds of security breaks in windows which websites can take advantage of either by putting adware on your pc or a virus. or anything else really. and windows wont work after 30 days either so its really pointless. Either get it verified or if you cant, then buy a copy that you can verifiy.

 

dont understand windows wont work after 30 days i've had it about 5 months but i've not had many serious problems,just the odd one or two medium threat spyware that i just get rid of

 

if it is an illegal copy why would they give me an unlock code/updated key....surley not, were would i get there number

When you try to activate it there should be an option to call in. if you pick that there is a drop down menu to pick what country you are in and it will give you the phone number.
