It's that special time again when gamers are spoilt for choice as the last remaining months of the year are filled with many, many great releases to drain your wallet/bank accounts dry. Found a pretty accurate release date calendar and added a fair few on my own (did the research) If any dates are wrong I apologise, my main source for the dates was GAME, with a few I also checked their individual sites or Wikipedia. Major/Big games are in RED. Medium Games are in ORANGE (You might not agree with the ranks I've given some titles and may feel I have over/under -exaggerated their anticipation. If this is the case then do not worry I'm sure someone will listen to your complaint. Maybe Alice?) October 17th - Bioshock (PS3), Goldenaxe: beast riders, PES 2009, Saints row 2 October 24th - Fable 2, Farcry 2, Little Big Planet, Midnight Club LA, Dead space, Disaster: day of crisis, Legendary, Monopoly clap, October 31st - Fallout 3, Command and Conquer Red Alert 3 (PC), Ghost Busters, Valkyria Chronicles, Armoured Core For Answer, Dead Space (PC), 007: Quantum of solace, Manhunt 2 November 7th - Gears of War 2, Guitar Hero world tour, Tom Clancy's End War, Saints row 2 (PC), Trauma Center: New blood (Wii) November 13th - World of warcraft: Wrath of the lich king November 14th - Call of duty: world at war, Mirrors Edge, Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and bolts, Command and conquer: Red alert 3 (Xbox 360), Shaun White Snowboarding, Guitar hero On Tour Decades (DS), Rayman Raving rabbids TV Party (wii, DS) Wii Music, And lets not forget Golden Balls (DS & Wii) hehe: wtf) November 21st - Tomb Raider Underworld, Left 4 Dead, Need for Speed Undercover, Alone in the Dark (PS3), Grand Theft Auto IV (PC), Metal Slug 7 (DS), Mortal Kombat VS. So what will you be getting on release or this Winter?
Definite buys on that list for me: Red Alert 3. Fallout 3 Farcry 2 Maybes: Resistance 2 Silent Hill 5 Gears of War 2 Little Big Planet Great couple of months for gamers, that's fore sure.
It's a Fantastic time for Gamers but also a Horrible time because with so many releases out some gamers can get caught in the hype trains for several games, or have a difficult time trying to chose which titles they want now and which they want later when they can afford them. There's so many games out that there isn't much time to play one game before something new is out to steal your attention. This is particularly bad for gamers who love the feel of getting games on release day and being part of the threads posting their impressions, playing with/telling their mates about it etc. Keen gamers with less money have to be more picky in what they buy (or go down a cheaper but naughtier path) and those with less freetime find it even worse with little time being available to play a couple games nevermind a sea of them! I do wish some of these games could of been out in the summer, it's always the same. F*** all from around May till August (with the odd big title from year to year making a summer release) then 10-20 Big titles out in the Winter and several, less hyped other games out as well
Fallout 3, GoW 2, Silent Hill 5, Dead Space, FarCry 2 and Mirrors Edge. Oh, and Left for Dead! eff teee double-u. Gotta build my new system sharpish tbh.
I literally can't wait for SH 5. I'm going to turn off all the lights, turn up the sound and put down a towel on the sofa to sit on.
I've pre-ordered Saints Row 2. I'm going to rent dead space. The rest I'm definitely getting: Gears 2 Fable 2 Mirrors Edge Far Cry 2 (free mission pack from HMV!)
From that list, Farcry 2 - if it's anything like Farcry, with Crysis-like gfx, should be good. Fallout 3 - see what reviews it gets first. Looks good and I thought I'd be a hermit with Oblivion, but I never quite got into it. Mirrors Edge looks fantastic but I think a review or three should tell me if it's playable. TR:Underworld - I'm a sucker for Tomb Raider games, but I need to complete TR:A first! Left 4 Dead - the videos look amazing but I'll wait for reviews, see if it plays as good as it looks. NFS Undercover - this might be something like NFS:MW, which is the best in the series atm (imo ). Motorstorm 2 - looks very good indeed. Online Motorstorm is muddy good fun, hope this sequel continues the trend. Prince of Persia - Sands of Time was awesome, Warrior Within was buggy as hell, never tried Two Thrones, but this one looks like it has win. For the most part, I'll be avidly reading reviews and/or playing demos before laying down any cash.
Only have 2 off that list, both for PC, and they include: C&C RA3 Premier Edition and Tom Clancy's Endwar. Might also have a look at FarCry 2 if it's available on PC. Sam Edit, Decided to pre-order FarCry 2 (PC) from HMV
Had no idea FC2 was due out this soon... I'll definitely have to grab a copy if my 7900GT in the ol' Windows box will be able to cope.
I think this year there a fair few more big releases than last year but last year had the some bigger releases than this year: Halo 3, Orange box, Super Mario Galaxy, Call of Duty 4, Rockband (US), Guitar hero 3, Bioshock, Crysis,
omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg!! SH5, L4D, POP, COD! SCENE IT TWO!!11
Only one on that list I might buy is FO3, not because I've played any of the other FO games, but because it was recommended to me. I'm glad Valve has finished L4D so maybe they can get HL2E3 out the door!
