Ok, now its winter, what temps are all you other air cooling guys getting? please list cpu, speed, hsf, compound, mobo and temperature, obviously. thanks.

My lowest was this morning, idle in xp @ 24c, but i had the patio door fully open at 7am, and the door open to create a draught. I could see my breath and started losing feeling in my fingers so i gave up.

would condensation be a problem? (tbh i dont think it would because it would be at the same temp as the room but anyway....)

no, all the components would be at a temperature equal to or greater then the surrounding air. currently temps are NB:26, CPU: 42, PWM:32, room has almost warmed up again now.

hehe, Last christmas my missus did a very cheep diy loft conversion for me as a prezzie, she just wanted me out of the spare bedroom i think. Only half the roof was insulated the bottom half of each side just had a thick paper sheet attched to the roofing joists. I moved up there over new year and iirc the weather was actually quite mild and it felt fine up there. A couple of weeks later we started to get some cold fronts from the north and the wind was bitter. Needless to say it came right through the loft and i saw a minimum ambient temp of 0 degrees C *brrrrrr*. At the time i had a 1Gig t-bird that used to run fairly hot, had heat probs the previous summer. Well at that time up in the loft on full load my system temp was at ~5degrees and CPU was ~15-16 degrees, even when the weathter warmed up a little it still took ages fro the CPU to get above 25 degrees. LOL i tried to overclock a little but generic ram and crappy mobo got in my way. Now the loft is fully insulated and i have barton 2500+ o/c to ~2300 cooled by a SLK800 / tt smart fan II with AS3 on an abit NF7-S and temps stick to around 35-42 depending on ambient temp and load. Ambient temps are between 15 abd 20 degrees so its much more comfortable for me now lol.

It is often a hard decision to chose between the right comfort level for your 'puter and yourself.

Generally modders like to take care of their comps more than theirselves and they go to extremes of cooling :)

(...er what am I talking about :worried: )

It is hot here all year around, that's probably why my cpu temps are a bit higher than you guys...

But then we have somethink over here called 24/7 airconditioner at full power doing 16 degrees

The only drawback is the cost of the bill , for example

    This month : $ 999999999999999999999

    :(

hehe yes it was ridiculous (if you were referring to my post). Needless to say i kept a fleece or two up there for emergencies. Oh and i did suffer more colds than normal last year but that could have been coincidental  I have to admit i would not do it again through choice :D

If you want to try to replecate it, wait until it starts to snow, or is too cold to snow then move your PC to the shed try to make it a windy day for added chill factor. Sit at it for a while playing Q3 or other favorite multiplayer game and drink beer. The beer will never get warm :D which is always a bonus however the fluid in your W/C rig may get a little more viscose than you are used to
