Can someone help out with this?
At every reboot Windows wants to install a cd-rom drive.
Obviously it fails, but then again every drive on the system works,so i wouldn't mind if it would stop trying.
How do i go by this?

you sure you havent got it configured in bios to look for another drive present..
then when the system searches for it it finds there isnt one?

Ok that's an option, but... whenever did windows need to install drivers for a cd-rom? It irritates me, but also made me curious. How the hell does windows go by this? As said normally you connect and the thing runs, what's different now?

Windows just uses a general like 1 size fits all driver for the CD drives. Its installed automatically when you install windows. Unfortunately finding the driver is impossible as Ive needed it in the past to troubleshoot drive issues. I always ended up formatting.

Have you tried removing the optical drives(s) in Device Man & rebooting?

I'd go into safe mode, delete everything under cd-rom drives in the device manager, then reboot as normal and see how it goes.
