I'd maybe look to get a decent set of the linked above...

Mine are the same type as those, think they are dewalt... never had any issues with fan wires or any other stripping task i've used it for.

Failing that, if you haven't got many to do I used a stanley or razor blade by hand which gives a good clean cut.

I agree, some branded ones should do a better job as long as the brand is decent. DeWalt are a good trade brand, so usually come highly recommended for power tools etc.

eBay isn't always the cheapest for branded tools so shop around, Google Shopping is your friend! :)

Just ordered three Wera Kraftform tools from Tool Shop Direct as I found them the cheapest on Google.

'GuilleAcoustic' thanks but they are a tad to expensive for just the occasional use.

I do not know their price ... I did use them at school and at work :D. Was always spending my lunch time playing with those professional industrial tools (stripper, heater, solder iron, etc...)

Made nice custom cables back on those time .... now I'm working on a desk (still fun but different). I play with SU and program a lot now during lunch time.

Even I have used the knipex tool in the past and quite satisfied. Give a look to this, it will definitely help you.

They have a small ruler on the side so you can measure how much wire it will strip off.

The Knipex Multistrip ones are a poor design. The 'length stop' isn't firmly fixed in placed and will move easily resulting in various lengths of insulation being stripped off.

I use THIS for work (electrician), stripping a bunch of wires without any issues.
Well, almost, some of the new ship-grade cables have hard and smooth surface, so sometimes it tends to loose the grip of the wire, if that happens I just pinch the jaws of the tool to increase the grip and try to strip again, and that works every time.. :)
is is named Maxim 6, the 6 is the maximum wire size in mm2, but I often use it on 10mm2, and it has even worked on 16mm2, the smallest multi-strand wire I have tested it on is 0.22mm2, and it was flawless.
also it works nicely to strip the outer layer on lamp-cables, and then the inner wires :)
