OK, will be buying a wireless adapter for my computer soon, and was wondering how they compare. I currently have a USB adapter from NetGear plugged in, and the other computers in my house use PCI-card wireless adapters from D-Link. I could just get one of the same, but hey! This is supposed to my dream top-of-the-line computer right? Why shouldn't I get the best wireless adapter? But what would that be? Is a USB better, or a PCI card with an antennae? My brother swears that the internal card is crap, and I have to change it back RIGHT NOW! but personally, I haven't noticed that. Plus USB is limited to 11 Mbps, I believe. Or was that only on USB 1.1?
I'd get a netgear PCI card. I'd also slap your brother around for being stupid. I'd also avoid Linksys like the plague because linksys wireless products are crap. Netgear are good
i've got a pair of belkins in my desktops, and they work extremely well with both the belkin wireless router I use, and the AirPort Express I've got as well. i've had badluck with any and everything netgear in the past
Well netgear is something I know I can get just walking into my computer shop. No lengthy orders, so that's good. And you may consider my brother duly slapped Although he may have a point, because the USB drive is on an extension lead, and so can be placed on the desk, while the wireless card's antenna sticks out the back off the computer, which is in an alcove under the desk, which may impede signal.
