Thinking aboutgetting adsl for my pc, but my parents also want it downstairs on the old pooter. Question is, what wireless things will I need? I want to go for 54G, I have an inkling that all i'll need is 2 network cards, or will i need an access point aswell ?
It's probably best that you get router with wireless access point built built in. Then use a wireless card in the pc downstairs to connect. Visit www.adslguide.org for some reviews on the routers but I believe most people on a budget think about the X-modem and the buffalo wireless router but I could be wrong. It might be a good idea to visit the forum as I fairly certain this question has been asked there a few times.
Cheers m8, I'm thinking about getting the Belkin 54G stuff, so, does the wireless router with access point plug into my pc via rj-45 or do i still need 2 wireless cards?
Since it is a router, one computer can attach directly to it through LAN ... and only the computer away from the router will need a wireless card
right, what i've decided on doing is connecting the adsl into my pc, then get a wireless card in both pcs, on the wireless side of thing, will i only need 2 wireless cards, bit like a conventional X-over cable in 10/100 networks ?
Yeah, you can connect two PCs with one wireless card each. You dont need an access point or anything.
