Hi, I am thinking about letting my 13 daughter have a wireless connection in her bedroom,the thing is that she is sneaky and would go on it when she is supposed to be in bed(going on MSN,I hate it).Any way enough of my ranting ,what I'm wondering is ,is there any way to close the wireless side of my modem down quite easily ,so that it can be turned back on just as easy. I have a speedtouch modem and running vista 64bit
you could buy a separate wireless router. most of them these days have pretty comprehensive parental controls such as disallowing access at certain times to specific MAC addresses (the physical network address of a specific machine)
my wireless router has an on/off switch for wireless broadcasting. works a treat as i used wired so turn it off and now no chance of my network being leeched by some barsteward. you may be able to turn off wireless in the router admin page.
