reading a recent thread i got re-directed to www.lcdgallery.net, so now that I’ve got to looking around(and planning a future mod) i have decided i want to try and wire one of these babys up . the one i think i want to go for is the this Stanley , what is it gona take for me to wire this up ?? Am I gona need a controller, I’m new to these kind of LCDs and would appreciate some help especially from the LCD god coorz
Indeed controllerless, most info you need can be found here. Looks a fine LCD but only nag might be the EL backlight which is very easy to connect but maybe not bright enough.
That display has a S1D13305F controller, according to the datasheet. You can directly connect that to your parallel port.
Wrong links Which one are you looking at? No way you can have a 320x240 blue/white with onboard SED and CCFL for $30
yeh, i was afraid of that, can anyone recomend any others for around that price ? the Seiko i was lookin at is outa stock
Check ebay regularly. There's a nice CCFL, transmissive blue/white one listed now, but it has a nasty FFC connector, not so easy to solder. Though there might be some solder pads above it but the pic is too unclear. These guys sell the complete product.
yeh, i was looking on e-bay, just wasnt sure what to search. when you talk about the FFC connector is that whats circled in red ? if not, what am i looking at cause i'll ask for some better pics.
The FFC connections are those 14 copper traces starting from under that CCFL connector in the red circle, normally there'd be a FFC cable soldered and glued to it. The row above it looks like normal 2.54mm pitch pads but i can't see proper.
so, if i purchase this screen can you help me wire it up ?? and am i going to need a controller, and inverter for the back light ? it looks like i will
Sure, but make sure you can easily interface (solder) to the LCD, otherwise it's gonna be messy if you haven't done anything like it before.
well it arrived today and found a great surprise, its got little headers !! wich is going to help hook it up much easier. but now i need some help on the wirring part so as i await for a reply, i shall go bondo !!!
before i place an order for the controller, do i need an inverter for the backlight ?? i thought i did when i went over the data sheet, but i wana make sure.
so if im reading this correctly i need one thats 220 V and 5 ma ?? right ? i just wana be sure, so i dont blow anything up
