ok great, i figured my way would be the simplest way for me to do it otherwise id be going out n buying all kinds of different resistors for the different configurations. instead this way i can hook them all up to one molex run them where ever i want to run them inside of my case. use all of the same resistors because their configurations are all the same and i will be getting close to the full amount of light from the led. thanks for the help guys ill post pics of the case when i get done. thanks
sorry guys but i have another problem and question, on my fan controller the knobs light up blue which is powered by 4 3mm leds, well a few weeks ago all of the leds burnt out, i looked at the pcb on the controller and it has 4 resistors of which 2 are one ohm and 2 are another. should i just put 4 of the new leds in place of the old ones and see what happenes or is there a bigger problem here.
Does the rest of the fan controller work properly? I'd wanna check the led power circuit on the fan controller before soldering 4 new 3mm blue leds in. Maybe the leds are ok? maybe one of the resistors on the fanbus burnt out? If the leds burnt out you should be able to see a little black burnt bit where the actual led is, inside the led. If you wanted brighter ones anyway or whatever, you could put in 4 new ones and connect them to the 12v on the power connector of the fanbus or another molex, by either just gluing them in place and wiring them up independantly, or you could solder them in, cut pcb tracks, then wire them up independantly.
well since the fan controller works ok i think imma just attach the leds in their stock locations and wire them up to the 12v molex instead of trying them out on the pcb on the controller, i dont want to waste any more than i have to. thanks ill post a pic of the pcb and leds. the leds dont look burnt out but i cant get them to light up either so i dont know. thanks
heres a pic of the controller before the leds went out (only went out on knobs) http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=4935797 and after http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=6796409 as you can see it pretty much kills the look of the controller. ill have to get my sisters camera and take a pic of the pcb later. i dont see anything wrong with it nor the leds. thanks
well i got the leds in, used my scheme for wiring them up and heres the finished product. doesnt look too bad. lol please post any comments good or bad. i wired 8 leds on one string that is in the main part of the case, another 2 pointing at the fan, replaced the power led and hd activity and i wired 2 up for the fan controller knobs. so a total of 14 as of right now. now to find something to do with the 36 that i have left. thx for the help guys
