Okay, I was hoping to just pop up and say 'look here at what I've done' but I need help. I want to turn my old HP Laserjet II P into a HP Pavillion. I won't give all the details of the project, but I do want to use the lcd panel on it, and the buttons... the question is, how? is there a simple way to learn what leads do what? keeping in mind I'm an electronics noob. Can I somehow use a few of the buttons as volume control for my sound card? and how about a hibernate button, etc? ooh, or possibly control fans, there are enough buttons to have a plus and minus button for 3 different fans... how hard would that be? Edit: I just noticed a family member fell asleep nearby, so I can't type much, which is why I'm so vague... I'll write more in the morning! shhhh
I can't help you much with the LCD, need more info. I can help you with the buttons though: Desolder the connections from the buttons (at the board or the buttons themselfs then... If you want to use them as MoBo function buttons (i.e. Power, Reset, Suspend, etc) then you can simply connect the buttons to the pin-outs on your Mo/Bo (preferably through a connector!!). Simple eh?
