I have 802.11b set up in my house and it works great. The thing is, I want to connect my xbox, and another PC (without a wireless card) to the network as well. These guys are in my room, and I can't run cables from the wirless router to them. I have another router (non-wireless), and I'd prefer not to have to buy anymore hardware.

So, I was thinking there's probably a way to use my existing PC as a bridge to hook up the xbox and any other PC's I want to set up in my room through the secondary router. My main PC has the wireless card and gigabit ethernet, and is running win xp pro.

Can anyone give me pointers on how to do this?

setup the pc with the wireless and wired cards to bridge the wireless domain to the wired domain in that room using the bridge network feature in XP. if you have problems with that feature then try this software

What about IPs? The wireless network IPs are set through DHCP. What should the settings be for the wired card TCP/IP?

    Thanks for your help!

the best method for the x-box is in actual fact a wireless bridge because with the above method you must have the pc on to play x-box live, however if your using gamespy or other now then use above

yes, A wireless bridge would be best but I was explicitly taking note of the line where he says he'd prefer not to buy any more hardware.

As to dhcp simply set the wired cards to use dhcp as well - if you are bridging traffic then this happens at the iso layer below IP, effectively the wired and wireless domains appear as a single network.
