Unlucky, but as said above painkillers are general things. There will always be someone who doesn't react in the normal way. I for one find the low levels of paracetamol in calpol fine (and it tastes nice), but a friend of mine can take codeine all day and have barely any effect.

I just had the local anesthetic when my bottom two were taken out. For some reason I don’t really mind the grinding noises from the drill. The smell of the cauterized flesh bothers me a lot more.
No reaction to my painkillers at all, although a few days later was when I learned an important life lesson. Pain killers and vodka don’t mix.

All I had since I had it done were some of those meal in a bottle protein drinks. Good but Im going to try switching to noodles tomorrow, every time I see a movie or show where they are eating I can taste whatever they are eating and its torture. Just a little before I went to the fridge to get some water and almost thought about a beer, I cant wait till its all healed up.

At least its all better from here, I hope.:D

bout 2 years ago i had 2 have my wisdom teeth out. and before i start i absolutely hate dentists (like a phobia of them) first time they tried i was litreally shaking in the chair and the dentist wouldnt do it. 2nd time i had the numbing injections then ran out of the room. 3rd time lucky, i was admitted 2 hospital and proper gassed out, woke up as high as a kite on drugs and i didnt feel a thing :D only worrying thing was when i woke up the (not native english) doctor said "we applied some pain killers, from the rear" but abit of gas and a sapositry later i was fine and didnt feel a thing

Worst experience like that that I've had was when the dentist was drilling away some decaying enamel in preparation for a filling, slipped, hit the nerve. I scream, she slips again, hits it again and again, and just tells me to stop being such a wuss about it (paraphrased ^^)

As for painkillers, they never lessen pain for me at all, I just don't react to them one way or the other. I have a sneaky suspicion they're largely psychosomatic...

morphine doesn't have any effect on you? and nor does laughing gas? that's a bit unlikely..!

oh wisdom teeth aren't that bad...

having your eyeball scratched by a stone is alot more painful, and having a pacemaker put it sounds alot worse...the noise made when they make the hole between your skin and your ribcage for it is most enlightening!

When I had my wisdom teeth pulled, I laughed at others who said it was painful. All of my wisdom teeth grew in horizontally so the crowns were crushing the molar in front of them. In one day and only a couple of Novocaine shots later, I had four wisdom teeth and three crushed molars removed.

Smoked a cigarette as soon as I left the dentist's office and ate solid food that evening. I don't think I even bothered to get my painkiller prescription filled.

Mmm that sucks. When I got mine they couldn't get me to go to sleep, they gave me a double dose, and it took about half an hour for me to start falling asleep, and just when I started to sleep, I woke up again to their great exasperation, took another hour or so for me to finally fall asleep, and I woke up not long after.

The sounds/feelings are great aren't they? I swear I woulda choked the asshat holding the tools if I hadn't been strapped to the chair, luckily the pain was numbed during the operation and afterwards, but not completely removed, just numbed. Everything they prescribed to me didn't do anything either, so I had to go without any pain-killers or anything.

I did find that putting a bag (there's a word for that.. just forgetting it atm) filled with hot-ish water (i.e. hot but bearable) on my cheeks helped a lot in relieving the pain a bit and make it more comfortable. You can try with ice cubes/cold water but I found hot water to be better

I've had wisdom teeth removed, painful, but didnt freak me out nearly as bad when a lil over a month ago got a piece of metal in my eye and the doctor took A FREAKING DRILL AND NEEDLE!!!!!!!!!! and 30minutes to remove it............... I got this thing about sharp pointy objects near my eyes, especially when they rotate at high speeds.......:eeek:

I had 4 teeth removed 2 year ago. I went to the Sheffield Training Hospital because I got no money. Also I dont trust the dentist near me. I had to have 2 out at a time in 2 sessions over a month. 3 were on the bottom and one was from the top.

They injected me in the gum and after 6 injections I could finally feel almost nothing. The student is supervised so I felt safer because there are plenty of proffesional around incase something goes wrong which you dont get in a dental practise. It took them around 3 hours to pull 2 teeth because my teeth are stuck in pretty well, the student just couldnt get the strength to pull the teeth and even the tutor couldnt. So it was 3 hours or wiggling before they all cam out.

There was so much bleeding after and had to have swabs on my mouth to soak up the blood, but it would not stop. I woke up next day to find my pillow completly soaked in blood, I must had lost alot because it was soaked.

Pretty much the same thing happened for the other 2 teeth. The one on the top was not moving at all and that one alone took 3 hours.

hurt like hell when the injections wore off.
