I can't believe i'm finding this so difficult :wallbash:

Can anybody help with this. I'm having difficulties with a Dell D800 Laptop with the Dell True Mobile 1300 WLAN Mini-PCI Card.

Problem we're having is that the Card will not pick up an IP address from the network it is trying to join. (10.39.254.*) instead assigning itself with an automatic address.

Looking through the only difference I can see between this and other Wireless laptops is the absence of the WLAN Transport protocol.

    1) Can anybody tell me where/ if this is available to install manually

    2) Anybody got any ideas on how to fix this?

    Cheers

Is the wireless network set for DHCP? What is the router set to for security?

    DHCP is enabled.

Lan is accessed via a Linksys Access Point using a standard 10 digit WEP key. Access point supports B and G networks. This is B I believe.

Laptop has new bios and updated drivers for the Wireless card.

The wifi card you have is B/G so it will be operaating in he G setting right now. Also, all the wireless cards i have incliding the same one you are using dont have the WLAN Transport protocol.

Maybe the wireless card is finding and trying to connect to another network (a neighbor maybe) who is not running DHCP? A long shot I guess!

How about giving it a manual address, and then working from there? Also you could try using Ethereal or something to see what's going on DHCP wise.

first off manually assign a private IP thats in scope (ie no subnets cutting it off).

if you have transit, then start looking at firewalls, anything that can block the DHCP.

    Uninstalled WLAN Transport

Hi, Someone was fiddling around with my wirless settings and uninstalled "WLAN Transport" in Wireless Network Connection Properties. I am now unable to go on the internet? Please will someone help me? I have downloaded some WLAN.exe thing but does not seem to help. I have also somehow got WLAN Transport back into the list of items the connection uses and its box its ticked but still no luck. I am stuck! Please help. Thankyou so much.

    Billy.
