Atomic Live. Kinda ironic really... :worried:

First week in December. At the moment I'm just concentrating on getting the case finished (and taking lots of pics). I'll worry about writing it up after it's done.

    First and foremost:
    WOW. :jawdrop:
I remembered seeing this the first time it was up on the site, very very impressive work!

    Now for my question:
I posted this over in the General Modding forum, and it was suggested I post it here...
Where could I find the "armor rings," preferably in the US. I've tried Google, and found nothing but either jewlery, or "make your own medeival armor" stuff...

I've even tried, as was suggested, looking for "tamper proof" fasteners, which gets me plenty of "spanner" drive bolts, and "break-away" nuts, but not these things....

I want to do pretty much the same thing G-Nome did, countersink them, and then stick in counter-sunk socket head bolts, in this case, to hold in a window. I've looked for "tapered cup washers" and only found them from UK sites, where shipping+handling make it prohibitve to order from (mostly also from motorcycle parts places)

I even today at work started contemplating getting a mini-metal lathe ($400 from Harbor Freight for a 7"x10"), but can't justify it for one lousy project. I've even started contemplating buying some correct diameter aluminum rod, and then cutting and filing (probably for weeks)....

    Thanks!

I honestly don't know where you would find these in the US. TBH Google sometimes isn't that great a solution to finding certain building or engineering parts - I didn't know about these until I saw them at a stainless steel fastener wholesaler. I think they are made in the UK or US. My suggestion is (depending where you live) to yellow pages your nearest stainless steel fastener wholesaler (a specialist that supplies the Trades, not just a normal hardware store) and go in and have a chat to them (print out a pic from the article to show them). The Armor rings are originally designed to be hammered onto the ends of hexagonal bolt-heads, to prevent them from being able to be undone.

Good luck and hope that helps :)

Dude, wtf? :eyebrow: G-gnome's mod is spectacular, but posting bad song lyrics to him is rather excessive

No part 2 update this year it would seem, too bad!
I really was expecting to read what amazing ideas G-gnome has had this time...
I know the delay is somewhat explained in the Atomic Live coverage, it must be some amazing case when it's ready!

The Pope was right about keeping us busy in the mean time, it seems most have already forgotten about the "promised update"...

Yeah, the holiday season has kept me busy, plus I've been preparing to move house in just over a week. It's all go go go at the moment. :blah:

Sorry mate - can't offer any hints. IF we said "oh, look for it around XYZ day" we'd only get shouted at if we happened to need more time.

There's plenty to talk about as you can see from the Atomic coverage. However, there is still some construction to go, and the then mammoth task of writing up all the coverage.

He's working on it - all we can ask for is patience.
