I have both the CD-RW and the DVD drive stealthed in my computer, and for the past few months I have had icons on my desktop leading to DVD drive and CD-RW. When I right-clicked these and clicked "eject" in the menu, the drives ejected. But not any more. Now when I click "eject", it just says "Windows is searchin for drive F:". Unless there is a disc in it. Then it works... So now I have to eject the drives from My Computer, which I find highly impractical. Why has this happened, and how can it be fixed?
Created new ones many times. And the funny thing is that they know that they are assigned to F:, but they won't work when there is no disc in the drive. When there are discs in the drives, I can eject normally, using the icons.
This may be a problem because Windows always checks the status of shortcuts on the desktop and on the start menu. For example make a shortcut on the desktop to a file on a floppy, remove the floppy then watch as windows tries to access that floppy every minute. So windows may not want to eject because of this "feature"
well bard... I've just tried and it does the same thing than you... looks like you'll have to go through my computer first like I have to do...
They're not mounted in a manner that allows that. I have removed the original bezel and stuck bay covers on the tray fronts.
when my friend stealthed his drives he took a small piece of wood and glued it to the bezel so that he can puch the bezel and the wood hits the button.
