Im runnin windows xp and when i goto start - turn off computer - turn off nothing happens it doesnt work. It just goes back to my desktop any one know why? cheers
Do you mean when you hit the shutdown button, it goes back to your desktop like nothing happened or it reboots?
yea that use to happen to me... but from what i figure i think the hard drive falls "asleep" so when i need to shutdown now i go open up windows explorer and play a movie file or mp3 then close windows media player then shutdown. not technically correct way to solve or remedy a problem but hey it works for me, hope it works for you
ctrl+alt+del task manager processes End Process... End Process... End Process... End Process... End Process... End Process... ect ect... ctrl+alt+del again shut down If that works, repeat again but with just a few processes. Keep doing that until you limit it to a certain process... 'least that's my thinking...
My sisters computer does it if it has been left idle for more than 2hrs during the day, but I've setup her machine to make windows do its thing and shut down when you hit the power button, which always works even when clicking `turn off` dosen't
Its ok now... i looked at the processes bit and found "games.exe" deleted it and my computers running faster and shuts down so its all ok
my comp used to do that. Just log out, and then click shut down from the sign in page. i dont know what causes it, but when i reinstalled xp, it fixed it.
