Side mounted surface mounted leds yes, though as you can see the top of the lcd is a clear window into the back - if youshone 4 3mm leds down this gap and didn't power the backlight (pins 17 and 18) you'd have a good backlight I think.

    Wiring as,

    3 - earth
    4 - +5V
    5 - earth
    6 - // pin 16
    7 - earth
    8/16 - // pin 1/9
    17 - +5V
    18 - earth

    Cheers,

    r.

    Ok some more pics,

Firstly the width of the 20 way connector compared to 16 way normal ribbon cable,

    {param}

The soldering is pretty tricky (even 2nd time round) I'd pick up a proper 1mm 20 way connector to reduce the soldering difficulty (and I tried to - think the one I wanted isn't in stock at farnell :().

    Cheers,

Well this unit is parallel (I normally write // instead of parallel tis easier), though they do serial graphic ones - might play with one soon, need to write some software support for it.

If you look up a normal parallel wiring guide (see the faq) you should be able to work out how I wired this using the connection list I gave a couple of posts back.

Available in the states? Must bem dunno where though :(

    What, why, where & how?

    Ok here we go!

The LCD panel loks cool, I'm new to the electronics thing mostly, but how would I use an LCD panel, i.e what use is it, how would I go about adding it to my case mods etc & how much would it cost.

Sorry for all the Q's I'm trying to clue up here as i've not come across any of this stuff before & have only really built PC's overclocked & the usual stuff. :blah:

Oops sorry for the slow reply... have a read of the lcd faq in this forum, should answer most of your questions, the links to // wiring guides should help you.

It costs about £16 to wire up this lcd with all the bits, if you want a bigger one I'd look at mo - they still have the nk204 (normal) for about £45 all inc (to import into this country with DHL), which is a much easier display to set up :) Anyway have a read around...

    Cheers,

Spike said the offer had just ended. You can use the lcd to show motherboard monitor information, cpu usage, disk usage, what winamp is playing, how your stocks are doing, and custom messages.

I am really impressed by mine. It is very useful for checking chip temps while i am playing games.
