News Woolworths to ditch HD-DVD

    I can't remember what the tech is called but unless your running a trusted platform the video will downscale to SD resolution, I don't think XP is considered a trusted platform, thus all the extra drm built into vista. So while he can play blu ray now when the tech is implemented the video will automatically be scaled back. It was discussion earlier in this thread (?) but i can't find it now.

    I though that the Xbox supported Blue Ray!
    If that is the case, then I’m sure Win XP will support it.
    Not sure though.

    360 has a locked down software set and hdcp as such its a trusted platform, ie we users can bugger about with to stream the data some where it can be capture and stuck up on torrent. XP wont be, i read on the web that the ict won't be introduced till 2010 so i don't suppose the platform will be a problem for a couple of years yet. Its nothing to do with either being a MS product.
