apologies if there is a 'for sale" thread somewhere, I can't find it, please let me know if this needs to be moved.

I thought this would be of interest to all of you here, I have a very unusual offering I'd like to offer up: my second WOPR housing. (you've seen War Games... right?)

the pictures should tell the story, but basically, in 2006, I bought two of these housings from the now defunct Boeing Surplus Sales in Seattle. I spent a couple years turning one int the ultimate home computer(s), but I really don't know what to do with the second housing... so I’m offering it, plus FOUR barco 251 hardened monitors up for sale in Seattle, Washington. I can arrange to palletize it and ship to you, but freight will likely not be cheap because it's so heavy.

and full disclosure, not all of the monitors work perfectly. one seems to have a bad inverter or backlight and sometimes flickers badly after warming up. two are perfectly useable, however, either I haven't calibrated them right, or their better used for radar/missile defense screens than computer monitors... text is a little fuzzy. perfectly readable, but not to the standards of a modern LCD screen. but... I"m giving you all four for the price of two. (P.S. these were $2500 EACH when purchased new) this is what's actually for sale:

on the upside; what an awesome "case" for your mod! the cage is fully shock mounted, hardened and industrial-military quality... would look great in your bunker! the body itself is made of very thick CNC bent aluminum and some kind of hardened alloy for the rack/support pieces.... if there's ever an earthquake, i'm going to jump under mine, it'll hold the house up! it's powder-coated in a kind of flesh colored paint. it'd look awesome stripped and polished, though I painted mine in a black crinkle-coat. oh, and damn, it's been "un-classified" by the spooky agency that originally commissioned these as nuclear missile launches (

as for how to build it out, the only limit is your imagination... I have set mine up with my home computer in the rackmount bottom (along with a power supply, a oscilloscope, and a vintage IMSAI 8080.) I've then made a docking station in the middle drawer for my work laptop, and the switches on the right hand side KVM switch the right monitor from my work computer to my home PC. I've also put in a VFD display and a lot of separate controls. since these pictures were taken, i've added a couple of "wings" to the sides for the speakers, and a tray off to the side for the subwoofer. it's a self contained unit on casters... I can roll it wherever I want to work plug in power, ethernet, and cable TV and i'm ready to rock! with a little imagination and some elbow grease, I have no doubt that a bit-techer can do a lot more with this unit than I can!

so how about it... any takers?
