Please try to be as harsh as you can! I've recently finished a WordPress theme of my own and have since integrated my original site and blog into one. http://slickhouse.com Let me know what you think - what should be changed and what is good (if anything). As far as I can tell, it's valid XHTML 1.1 and CSS, works in 800x600 and above, in both IE 6/7 and Firefox 2+ Concentrate on the theme and layout itself, but if any of the content should be changed, then let me know. I appreciate any seconds/minutes you spend on this!
Perhaps some kind of horizontal bar to break up each entry. Maybe a very soft grey background colour for your "postmetadata" class? I'm not quite sure. I'd include the logo text on top of the main colour banner. I feel it looks a bit squashed where it is and I think would look cleaner with that top left area as whitespace. I'd also buff up the navbar at the top. I actually didn't notice it at all until I'd properly looked around. Either make it big and obvious with buttons or something, or drop it down a bit lower, I think. I find my eyes being initially drawn to the colour banner and then immediately looking below - missing the navbar. On the whole, it's quite a nice little clean design, though. Well done.
Thanks for the feedback - I like the horizontal bar idea and I agree about the logo appearing squashed. I've put together a mock-up of what I interpreted your changes to be: I prefer the navbar being at the top, but centred makes it more of a feature? The dots are only a temporary solution, I'll experiment with different horizontal bars/rules to split each post.
I think those changes look excellent. I personally would make the slickhouse.com text a little bigger as it is the main heading and should usually be the largest text on the page. In terms of the logo - I'd maybe sharpen it up a bit. The orange and blue text nice and crisp with a solid black border, but lose the reflection and give it a transparent background. Nice work.
